About Case Luggage

Established in 1923, Case Luggage are one of the oldest luggage stores in the world. And whilst some things remain timeless, like still serving customers from its original flagship Piccadilly store, Case Luggage has evolved over time, including owning the largest travel goods concession in the world at Harrods, and becoming a market leader in online luggage retail sector.

The Challenge

The team at Case Luggage had been monitoring store performance and highlighted this as an area for improvement for some time. Despite some best efforts, eCommerce metrics just weren’t improving at the pace they would have liked. Organic visibility wasn’t increasing, site speed was a particular concern and when sales had been impacted due to a series of untimely downtime instances, they decided to review the market and ultimately selected Deploy.

Case Luggage were facing a few headaches:

  • Support ROI: Whilst the site was being maintained, it wasn’t really moving forward in terms of features, functionality and UX improvements.
  • Periodic Downtime: The site could experience downtime instances, crucially in key trading periods, which were really painful.
  • Technical Store Performance: The site didn’t post good ecommerce performance metrics
  • Lack of Visibility: Competitors performed better in some key areas that Case had real strength.

They needed a solution—and fast. That’s where we came in.

Our Solution

Combining Deploy’s Magento and Digital Marketing expertise, we were able to make a plan to address the most commercially painful aspects first and follow on with ongoing enhancements as part of a long-term plan of continuous improvement.

Monitoring and Ongoing Support: We then continued a marketing leading support services to ensure the site was constantly performing at optimum levels, and digital marketing activity was effective and budget was being used effectively across organic and paid channels.

Thorough Site Audit: We started by conducting a full audit of the codebase and store set-up, front end ux, functionality, extensions, integrations and digital marketing activities that were driving traffic,, so we determine where problems may originate, or where efficiencies could be gained.

Environment: Firstly, Deploy were able to advise of an opportunity to move hosting partners, in order to gain a better fit for the Case Luggage store environment and remove the costly downtime and assist with site speed. At the same time, we updated Magento to the latest version, applied all necessary security patches, and added extra layers of protection to keep the site safe from threats.

Managing Extensions and Custom Code: We reviewed all existing extensions, updated or removed outdated ones, and resolved any conflicts with custom code.

UX Improvements: We then began a series of layout and functionality improvements, to allow the Case team to better service its customers who were already visiting the store with a frictionless, more intuitive online experience

Traffic Generation: Simultaneously, we got to work on improving the site’s visibility to reach new visitors that the site initially wasn’t reaching.

The Results

Triton’s Magento 2 site was launched smoothly within 8 weeks of Deploy taking over the project. During the initial audit, we highlighted a number of key tasks that were vital to a smooth transition to the new Magento 2 site.

We’re pleased to report the site is performing well and a healthy phase 2 scope of work is already under way to improve the site in key areas.

Some changes were immediate and others came to fruition over the 1st year of support:

  • Revenue: 21% increase in overall revenue
  • Orders: 80% increase in overall orders.
  • Transactions: 30% increase in organic transactions
  • Visibility: 43% increase in organic sessions.
  • Faster Website: Load times were cut down by 40%, leading to a much better user experience.
  • Zero Downtime: Thanks to our continuous monitoring, the site has maintained 100% uptime since Deploy implemented the changes.
  • Fewer Sleepless Nights!: After previous stressful periods, the Case team feel they are in safe hands, with the store moving in the right direction and looking forward positively to the future.

Conclusion

We’re extremely proud to support the team at Case Luggage, implementing a combination of Magento expertise, Ecommerce knowledge and digital marketing services; the combination of these services has been hugely impactful.
